Greetings from Chula Vista!
Saturday's session marked the fifth day at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Center, and it was also the final training of the week. Tomorrow, the Sounders are set to scrimmage Club Tijuana's U-20 squad before heading back to Seattle.
Target Practice
After a week that heavily emphasized fitness, the Sounders' key objective on Saturday was finishing. Aside from light jogging and traditional warmups, most of the session included situations that ended with a shot attempt.
Sun-day
Saturday's session felt like the warmest one of the week, with the temperature hovering in the low 70s under complete sunshine. All five training sessions were held with little to cloud coverage... and it felt spectacular.
5v5
The most competitive drill on the day came in a 5v5 session, with teams of five playing one another on a short field. The guys were split between two fields, one had mostly First Team players, while the youngsters were on the other. The team that won the competition? Román Torres,Osvaldo Alonso, Alex Roldan, Henry Wingo and VÃctor RodrÃguez.
Scrimmage on the Horizon
Instead of another training session on Sunday, the Sounders are set to face Club Tijuana's U-20 side. The scrimmage is set for 10 a.m. at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Center.
Quote of the Day
"It's been like a family. We are together, we enjoy being together. We have one goal: Win a trophy. It's our goal." - Sounders FC captain Osvaldo Alonso
