Sounders FC is proud to unveil our third kit for the 2025 season: The Orca Kit.
Built in collaboration with adidas and the MLS Archive Collection, this iconic kit celebrates our storied past and commemorates our 1995 A-League championship season.
The 1990’s were a transformative period for our club and our region. From the iconic music scene and legendary athletes to the boom of local businesses, Seattle emerged as a hub of culture and technology.
The Orca Kit is a tribute to a time where the upper-left went global. It borrows from the past in celebration of our bright future. This is us owning our Archive.
Sunsetting in 1983 as part of the NASL, the Seattle Sounders made their triumphant return to professional soccer the same year the world’s game descended on America with the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
The Orca Kit is inspired by that inflection point. It draws design elements from those early A-League Sounders teams for a jersey that embodies the trailblazing spirit of the 1990’s in Seattle.
After re-emerging from the American soccer wilderness in 1994, the Sounders won back-to-back A-League Championships in 1995 and 1996 as they laid the foundation for three decades of dominance.
The design on the sleeves is a reimagination of the vibrant pattern on the club’s kits during the early years in the A-League. The blend of white, blue and purple that were staples of Sounders kits in that era and have been revived with a modern interpretation.
The wordmark emblazoned across the front of the kit is a nod to the club’s A-League logo. It’s rooted in the aesthetics of the 1990’s and pays homage to a turning point in our history. Our modern-day Orca mark, stamps the chest in place of our modern crest, deepening the connection to that pivotal era.
The official A-League logo resides on the bottom of the kit, adding a subtle element to bolster the vintage feel of the kit.
The final flourish on the archive jersey, the original Major League Soccer logo is featured on the neck tag.
Rooted in Club history and reimagined for today, the 2025 Sounders Archive Kit celebrates the style and aesthetic of the late '90s and early 2000's while reviving the energy that launched the A-League. Inspired by the unique contradictions and vibrant spirit of our city, this jersey pays tribute to the icons and influences that shaped the Sounders of this generation.
