Editor's Note: With 2016 winding to a close, SoundersFC.com is taking a look back at the top 10 plays of the Seattle Sounders' 2016 season. We'll release the full list over the course of the week, with the final play being announced on Dec. 31. Take a look at the Honorable Mentions, No. 10, 9 and 8.
The Sounders will kick off the 2017 season on Saturday, March 4 against the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Jordan Morris broke a scoreless draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps on Sept. 17 in the 81st minute in the most impressive of ways.
Nicolas Lodeiro whipped in a pinpoint cross to the middle of the six-yard-box. Morris was backing down a defender perpendicular to goal and darted toward the ball. He then bravely dove full-extension and flicked a header past David Ousted for the game-winner.
The goal was Morris’ 10th of his rookie campaign and was equal parts difficult and courageous. It helped Seattle take all three much-needed points in the first of a four-match win streak down the stretch.
