SEATTLE, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance midfielder Antonee Burke-Gilroy underwent successful surgery on his left hand at Virginia Mason Medical Center in downtown Seattle on Wednesday, September 4. The procedure was performed by Dr. James Schlenker of Virginia Mason Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. The injury was suffered during a match against San Antonio FC on August 30, and Burke-Gilroy began rehabilitation immediately following the procedure.
Burke-Gilroy, 21, is in his second season with Sounders FC’s USL side and has made 20 appearances with the club in 2019, including 16 starts. He has recorded five shots in 1,380 minutes, and has made starts in the midfield and at right back. Last season, Burke-Gilroy played in 19 games and made 14 starts, recording three goals and one assist.
