SEATTLE, WASH. – Tacoma Defiance forward Alec Diaz has been called into the Puerto Rican U-20 National Team for the World Cup Qualifiers beginning on February 19 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Diaz is set to be with Puerto Rico on international duty until February 23.
Diaz, 18, started eight of his 16 appearances for Tacoma in 2019, recording 747 minutes. He netted one goal and added one assist while registering six shots on target. Diaz recorded two goals and two assists in 312 minutes during his first season with Tacoma in 2018.
Tacoma Defiance opens its 2020 season at home on Friday, March 6 against Reno 1868 FC at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. PT and the match will be livestreamed on ESPN+.
