The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Wednesday that it has suspended Vancouver Whitecaps FC forward Blas Perez for one game and issued an undisclosed fine for violent conduct against the Seattle Sounders’ Herculez Gomez during the Sounders’ 2-1 win last Sunday.
In the 78th minute, Perez fouled Gomez and then appeared to step on and kick him while Gomez was on the ground. MLSSoccer.com Editor-In-Chief Simon Borg said on Tuesday in the site's Instant Replay series that Perez’s play should have had him sent off.
Perez will serve his suspension on Oct. 16 when the Whitecaps take on the Earthquakes in San Jose.
