In this year’s ‘24 Under 24’ list released by Major League Soccer, Sounders FC defender DeAndre Yedlin took the No. 1 overall spot. The league recognized Yedlin as its top player under age 24.
Rather than counting down the top players each day, MLS revealed the list in its entirety Thursday.
The annual ‘24 Under 24’ rankings are determined by members of the media who cover MLS and the editorial staff of MLSsoccer.com. Players are rated based on technical ability, soccer IQ, physical attributes, personality, and potential.
This is the second time in five years a Seattle player claimed the No. 1 spot, as Fredy Montero finished atop the list in 2010.
Yedlin, who was ranked No. 3 on the list during his rookie season, described on Twitter how much Thursday's announcement means to him.
