It has been quite the resurgence in 2017 for Seattle Sounders forward Will Bruin, and in this edition of Quest Diagnostics Advanced Stats we break down his incredible play in the Western Conference Championship.
Bruin joined Seattle from the Houston Dynamo this past offseason after spending his first six professional seasons in Texas, and he got a bit of revenge in the Sounders’ final series ahead of MLS Cup. He scored twice and added an assist in a 5-0 aggregate rout of his former team, dominating Dynamo defenders and clearing space for Clint Dempsey, Nicolás Lodeiro and Víctor Rodríguez to operate underneath him.
After appearing in back-to-back finals in his first two years in the league in 2011 and ’12, Bruin will have another chance at his first MLS Cup when the Sounders take on Toronto FC at BMO Field on Saturday (1 p.m. PT; ESPN, UniMás, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360 AM).
