Following the club's 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Sunday evening, Seattle Sounders players Jackson Ragen and Paul Rothrock were named to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Matchday for Matchday 32.
Ragen was selected as one of the three defenders in the Starting XI, while Rothrock earned a spot on the bench.
Ragen solidified TOTM Starting XI honors after scoring the game-winning goal for the Sounders side. Kansas City goalkeeper Tim Melia’s initial save from Jordan Morris’ header attempt bounced to the feet of the center back for him to bury into the back of the net. Ragen also closed out the night with three blocks, three clearances and two recoveries.
Rothrock’s prowess on both ends of the pitch led to his recognition for Matchday 32. Not only did the midfielder extend the lead to two with a one-time finish at the top of the six-yard box, he also posted eight recoveries, two interceptions and one clearance.
The Sounders return to action on Sept. 18 as they host the San Jose Earthquakes at Lumen Field (7:30 p.m. PT; Watch on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, | TICKETS).
