What a week for the Seattle Sounders.
On Monday, Major League Soccer named Jordan Morris, Raúl RuidÃaz and Joevin Jones to the MLS Team of the Week following their roles in the record-setting victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.
Morris, 25, matched a Sounders FC club record with three assists in a single game in the 7-1 win over San Jose on Thursday night – not to mention his fantastic solo goal that opened the floodgates in the fourth minute of the match. Moreover, Morris’ three assists showcased his ever-increasing playmaking abilities. In particular, it was the Homegrown’s through-ball to setup RuidÃaz’s second goal and his outside outside-the-foot cross to Jones on the seventh goal that stole the show.
Speaking of RuidÃaz, Seattle’s No. 9 continued his run of excellent form since the resumption of the regular season, posting two goals and two assists. His second goal perfectly illustrated his class and composure in the final third as he coolly chipped the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper.
Jones, who matched RuidÃaz’s contributions to the box score with two goals and two assists, earns his first nod on Team of the Week this season following his first start in an attacking midfield position.
The Sounders return to action on Friday night when they host LAFC at CenturyLink Field (7:00 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
