Greetings from Chula Vista!
Training from the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Center resumed on Wednesday morning, with full-team participation for the duration of the 75 minutes.
High Intensity
Wednesday's training maintained the momentum from Tuesday, with the guys engaging in short, intense drills to prepare for CONCACAF Champions League next month.
You Are My Sunshine
It was a perfect 75 degrees for Wednesday's training, with no wind and complete sunshine. Just like Tuesday, each guy jumped in an ice bath after the training session.
No Empty Tummies
One of the perks of staying on-site at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Center is the dining hall. The guys eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together at the venue's cafeteria, which serves a variety of foods in a buffet-style (yes, there's even a soft-serve ice cream machine.)
11v11
For the first time in 2018, the team engaged in a full 11v11 session. Most of the younger guys stayed on a separate grass field with S2 Assistant Coach John Hutchinson, while the others engaged in a match simulation. During the drill, which took up most of the latter half of training, veterans intermingled with young talent, such as the 2018 MLS SuperDraft selections and Homegrown Player signing Handwalla Bwana.
Quote of the Day
"I think the guys coming from the Academy have shown they have good qualities, the ambition to be here is good. To work with them, they cannot be shy just because they see Nico, Clint, Román and Ozzie, and all those big guys. They have to get used to it and play normal." - Assistant Coach Gonzalo Pineda

Pro Tip: When you're near an ice bath, steer clear from prankster Henry Wingo.
Don’t let @henry_wingo near you when you’re in an ice bath, right Jordy? 🤣❄️ pic.twitter.com/t9ByJ5CPAK
