July 25 | Raúl Ruidíaz opens his Sounders scoring account with game-winning half-volley at the San Jose Earthquakes
On his full MLS debut, new Seattle Sounders Designated Player Raúl Ruidíaz did not disappoint. In the 62nd minute, Cristian Roldan played a ball into Ruidíaz that he controlled with his chest before turning and firing a half-volley into the corner of the net. Ruidíaz’s goal gave the Sounders a 1-0 win, the second of what would be an MLS-record nine in a row.
Ruidíaz scored a team-high 10 goals in just 13 starts after his arrival and helped lead the Sounders from the Western Conference basement to the No. 2 seed in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
