Nov. 8 | Raúl Ruidíaz’s stoppage-time volley vs. the Portland Timbers sends Western Conference Semifinals to extra time
The Seattle Sounders were down 3-2 on aggregate in stoppage time to the Portland Timbers in the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals and in desperate need of a goal to keep their playoff hopes alive. Up stepped Raúl Ruidíaz, who volleyed home in the third minute of stoppage time to force extra time and send CenturyLink Field into pandemonium.
The goal was Ruidíaz’s 13th in just 15 starts in all competitions for the Sounders since signing over the summer. The Sounders fell in penalty kicks, but Ruidíaz stole the highlight.
