No. 9: Gustav Svensson’s equalizing volley against D.C. United | July 19
Defensive midfielder Gustav Svensson only scored one goal in the regular season, but what a tally it was. In the 74th minute with the Sounders trailing 3-2 at home to D.C. United, Nicolás Lodeiro sent a corner kick to the near post.
Svensson one-timed a right-footed shot across his body and roofed it past goalkeeper Travis Worra. Svensson’s incredible touch was Seattle’s third goal in 23 minutes and set the stage for Cristian Roldan’s game-winner four minutes later.
