No. 8: Cristian Roldan’s two-minute brace vs. the San Jose Earthquakes | July 23
Ninety-six seconds. That’s all it took for the Seattle Sounders to jump from a scoreless draw to a 2-0 lead against the San Jose Earthquakes on July 23 thanks to a Cristian Roldan double. The defensive midfielder scored the fastest brace in franchise history and sunk the ‘Quakes before they knew what hit them.
Roldan, who recorded a career-high six goals in 2017, headed home his first tally in 54th minute after a flick-on from Gustav Svensson. Roldan then doubled his fortune in the 56th when a Will Bruin flick sent the ball to defender VÃctor Bernárdez, from whom Roldan stole the ball and fired a close-range strike past goalkeeper David Bingham.
