Temperature for #SKCvSEA on Sunday expected to drop below freezing

When it comes to playing Sporting KC, the Sounders know what to expect: Peter Vermes has his squad prepared for a hard-nosed, physical battle. Since 2009, 15 of the 17 MLS meetings between the two sides have been decided by one goal or fewer.



In regards to the weather, though, it's a completely different story. Of the eight matches the Sounders have played in Kansas City, the weather has been all over the place. In their first meeting in 2009, it was 49 degrees. In 2016, it was 95 degrees. This Sunday, it could be even more extreme. The current forecast expects a kickoff temperature just below freezing, which is colder than MLS Cup 2017 in Toronto (34 degrees).

After a bye week, the Sounders (0-3-0, 0 points) look for their first result of the season against SKC (4-1-1, 13 points) on Sunday afternoon at Children's Mercy Park (1 p.m. PT; ESPN, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
