It’s not easy to summarize the Seattle Sounders’ 2016 season, but perhaps goalkeeper Stefan Frei said it best: “It’s been a rollercoaster.”
From starting the first three games winless and sinking to the bottom of the Western Conference, to parting ways with longtime coach Sigi Schmid and signing Nicolas Lodeiro, to losing Clint Dempsey for the year, to qualifying for the Audi 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs on Decision Day and making an improbable run to MLS Cup, Seattle’s season has been anything but ordinary.
