Major League Soccer named Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Osvaldo Alonso to its Team of the Week for Week 29, the league announced on Monday.
Morris scored twice and Alonso added another from long distance in the Sounders’ 4-2 win over the Galaxy at StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., on Sunday.
Morris recorded his first career brace and set the MLS rookie record for goals scored by an American with 12. He also now leads all United States-born players in MLS in goals this season.
Alonso scored his second goal of the year on a long-range screamer that made the score 4-1 and capped the team’s massive road win.
The honor is Morris’ third of the 2016 season after being nominated in Weeks 10 and 22. It is Alonso’s second with his first coming in Week 5.
Sounders midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro was an honorable mention.
