US Under-18 national team head coach Javier Perez has called up 20 players to compete in a three-team tournament with Uruguay and the Czech Republic, to be held at StubHub Center in Carson, California, from July 11-15.
The roster includes four MLS professionals and nine players from MLS academies, including Seattle Sounders FC forward Victor Mansaray.
The four professional players selected by Perez for the tournament and the ongoing camp that precedes it are midfielders Sebastian Saucedo (Real Salt Lake) and Ben Swanson (Columbus Crew SC) and forwards Coy Craft (FC Dallas) and Victor Mansaray (Seattle Sounders).
Several MLS professionals that were called up for prior camps, including Justen Glad (Real Salt Lake) and Tommy Redding (Orlando City), remained with clubs that are shorthanded due to the Gold Cup.
Among academy selections, the New York Red Bulls led the way with three players, all defenders, while the Chicago Fire had two players selected and the Houston Dynamo, LA Galaxy, Philadelphia Union and San Jose Earthquakes had one each.
The U-18 national team is the age group (players born 1997 or later) that will aim to qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
