Sounders FC 2 (4-4-0, 12 points) defeated Portland Timbers 2 (1-7-0, 3 points) by a score of 2-0 on Friday evening at Starfire Stadium. Forward Irvin Parra provided the match's scoring with a goal in each half, as the Rave Green earned their second consecutive win and moved into a tie for third place in the Western Conference. S2 returns to the road next weekend with a contest against first-place San Antonio FC on Saturday (5:30 p.m. PT / Live-Streamed on SoundersFC.com).

Just six minutes into the match, Parra's converted penalty attempt put the Rave Green up 1-0. After David Olsen's shot was saved, Parra drew a penalty on the rebound. He coolly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net for his second goal from the spot in as many matches. Portland had eight shots in the first half, but only one on target, as the Rave Green entered halftime with the 1-0 lead.

In the 52nd minute, Parra recorded his second goal of the evening with a shocking tally from 35 yards out. While applying pressure on a Portland defender, Parra's attempted block sent the ball sailing over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net. With the goal, Parra matches Felix Chenkam as the club scoring leader with three goals.

Despite holding a five-shot advantage over the host side (13-8), Portland was unable to capitalize on any chances. Timbers 2 appeared to have cut the lead in the 88th minute, but Lucas Cini was ruled offside. S2's defense held on for the remainder of the match, marking the club's first shutout of the campaign.

Next Saturday, S2 visits first-place San Antonio FC. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. PT.
MATCH SUMMARY
Seattle Sounders FC 2 |2 - 0| Portland Timbers 2
