SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 today announced that it has mutually agreed to terminate its contract with forward Irvin Parra, effective immediately. Parra, 24, is set to join Orange County SC to be closer to his family as he and his wife expect their second child. The veteran forward leads S2 with six assists this season in 20 appearances.
“We appreciate Irvin’s efforts since he joined the organization last summer,” Sounders FC Director of Player Personnel Kurt Schmid said. “His experience and work ethic helped many of our young players in their development. We wish Irvin and his family all the best moving forward.”
A native of Inglewood, California, Parra signed with S2 in August of 2016 after spending the previous six years in Germany. In the 2013-2014 campaign, Parra set career-highs with 30 appearances, 28 starts and six goals while competing for Zweibrücken of the Regionalliga – the fourth division of soccer in Germany. Parra began his professional career in 2012 with Homburg, where he played in three matches.
Parra made six appearances for S2 last season, recording one goal and two assists. He was a mainstay in S2’s Starting XI this season, primarily playing as an attacking midfielder or target forward. In 20 appearances, he tallied six goals and six assists.
He becomes the second S2 player to depart this season, joining defender Riley Grant. Grant was released last month after making 12 appearances on the backline. S2 returns to action on Saturday evening on the road against Phoenix Rising (7:30 p.m. PT / Live-streamed on SoundersFC.com).
