Sounders FC 2 falls on the road to Arizona United SC

Lyon 150620

SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 (7-5-2, 23 points) fell 2-1 on the road to Arizona United SC (5-6-1, 16 points) Saturday night at Scottsdale Stadium. Nick Miele scored the lone goal for S2, but the home side found two second-half goals after the Rave Green were reduced to 10 men.

S2 got on the board first in the 19th minute when Pablo Rossi sent a lofting free kick into the box that found Miele for a header into the net. It marked the second goal of the season for Miele, who scored in a 1-1 draw with Whitecaps FC 2 on April 26. It also marked the second assist of the season for Rossi.

The lead held well into the second half until Seattle was reduced to 10 men in the 59th minute when Duncan McCormick was issued his second yellow card of the match. Moments later, Jonathan Top equalized for Arizona United SC when his shot from inside the box took a deflection into the back of the net. United scored the game-winner three minutes later when Otis Earle’s cross near the end-line found Long Tan in the box for the header goal.

Charlie Lyon recorded a season-high eight saves in goal for Seattle, keeping the Rave Green in the match until the final whistle.

S2 returns to action this Thursday with a home match against Real Monarchs at Starfire Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT and is being live-streamed on SoundersFC.com.
