The Seattle Sounders dropped one spot to in the weekly Power Rankings from MLSsoccer.com and ESPN.com following a disappointing 2-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City over the weekend.
After months of holding the No. 2 spot across both sites, the Sounders and SKC swapped spots in this week's edition of the Power Rankings. Seattle remains three points clear of Sporting in the Western Conference table.
Although the Sounders' loss was certainly a setback, the writers of the weekly Power Rankings remain bullish on the Rave Green as players return from injury and the team heads into the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
"No one is dumb enough to worry about the Sounders at this point," wrote MLSsoccer.com's J. Sam Jones. "Brian Schmetzer indicated Ruidíaz will be good to return from a hamstring strain sometime in the final three regular-season games and indicated Nico Lodeiro and even Jordan Morris could possibly do the same. Morris is just waiting to be medically cleared. I’d imagine that will happen before the playoffs. “Jordan Morris - Super-sub” conjures up some terrifying images for anyone in the West hoping to reach the playoffs."
The Sounders return to action on Tuesday night as they visit LAFC (7:30 p.m. PT; ESPN, ESPN Deportes, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360AM) at Banc of California Stadium.
