It’s a Sounders unity.
Prior to Sunday’s match against LAFC, the Sounders lined up for the Starting XI photo, as usual. This one was a bit different, though. The seven bench players also huddled into position, and there was a banner that spread across the group: “Get Well Soon, Jordan.”
The sign was in respects to Sounders forward Jordan Morris, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear in El Salvador late last month. It was a brutal blow for the 23-year-old Homegrown Player, who looked strong throughout preseason after battling injuries last year. In 2016, he was named AT&T Rookie of the Year.
The Sounders displayed a similar banner for Román Torres in September 2015. One month after signing with the Rave Green, Torres suffered a torn ACL that sidelined him for over 11 months.
Morris was quick to show appreciation for his teammates’ thoughtfulness on Twitter.
