A busy week for the Sounders FC front office ended with a very productive 2015 MLS SuperDraft.
New General Manager Garth Lagerwey came to the club barely 10 days before the draft in Philadelphia, attended the combine, executed a few shrewd deals and ended up taking home a trio of players the club had its eye on. Not a bad haul for his first major assignment on the job.
Coming to the Rave Green are University of Washington star midfielder Cristian Roldan, Northwestern goalkeeper Tyler Miller and University of New Mexico defender Oniel Fisher. Three positions of need taken care of in one day. All three have S2 prospects but have real potential for first team considerations.
Let us look back on the day through the eyes of Social Media, as it was a glorious afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love.
Wakey, wake. The day was beginning.
That’s a lot of soccer knowledge right there.
Sigi really loves the coaches’ photo.
Orlando got the draft underway and we were just so excited for them to get it started.
The Sounders didn’t have a pick in the first round…UNTIL THIS WENT DOWN.
ROLDANINHO!!!
Making trades, selecting the guy you wanted all along, laughing it up.
Then the kid took over our Snapchat account and it was super fun.
ANOTHER TRADE! Garth just going after it.
Soccer City, indeed.
He’s your new Sounders goalkeeper. He’s a stud.
Andddd that’s what he looks like.
It was full steam ahead after that as fullback Oniel Fisher was brought in next.
Being a Lobo sounds like fun.
Hendo was happy with the day’s selections.
Our boy Roldan is a bit of a joker.
Hear the man speak right this way.
And Garth. So much wisdom from Garth.
All in all, a very good day for the Sounders.
