ALL-TIME HISTORY: The Sounders are 14-5-2 all time against the Rapids, including an 8-2-1 mark at home.
RECENT MEETINGS: The Sounders defeated the Rapids 3-1 on July 4 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park behind a brace from Clint Dempsey and another tally from Will Bruin.
BYE ON THE LINE: Seattle can secure the No. 2 seed in the West with a win on Sunday and subsequently earn a Knockout Round bye.
CLINT OWNS COLORADO: Forward Clint Dempsey has eight career goals against the Rapids, the second-most against a single opponent, including six while a member of the Sounders.
CENTURY MARK AT CENTURYLINK: Dempsey made his 100th Sounders appearance last week, becoming only the 10th Sounder to reach triple digits. He has 46 regular-season goals, one behind Fredy Montero for the club’s all-time record.
STEFAN’S SHUTOUTS: Goalkeeper Stefan Frei recorded his 12th clean sheet of the season in the Sounders’ 4-0 win over FC Dallas last week. He now owns the Sounders record for shutouts in a single season.
BRUIN BACK WITH A BRACE: Bruin snapped his nine-game goal drought this past weekend with two goals in three minutes to all but sink FC Dallas. He now has 10 goals on the season, the fourth time in his seven-year career he’s reached double digits.
HOT ROD: Midfielder VÃctor RodrÃguez has two goals and an assist in his last two matches and has come into his own since joining the Sounders near the end of the Secondary Transfer Window. He will be a key asset on Sunday and throughout the playoffs.
NEW MAN IN CHARGE: Colorado fired Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni on Aug. 15 and appointed Steve Cooke on an interim basis. Cooke has accumulated a 3-6-2 record since taking over.
LEAKY DEFENSE: One year after conceding a league-best 32 goals in 34 games, the Rapids have allowed 48 in 2017.
ROAD WOES: The Rapids have just one win away from home this season, sporting a 1-13-2 mark. They are tied with the New England Revolution for most road losses in MLS.
WATTS OUT: Jared Watts, one of the Rapids’ best midfielders, underwent surgery on his right shoulder on Monday to repair a torn labrum and will miss the match against Seattle. He’s played in 20 matches this season.
