USL’s FC Cincinnati signs Seattle Sounders Homegrown Player Victor Mansaray on loan for 2017 season

USL’s FC Cincinnati has signed Seattle Sounders Homegrown forward Victor Mansaray on loan for the 2017 season.

Mansaray, 19, was the USL’s No. 1 player on its annual “20 Under 20” list while with Sounders FC 2 in 2016. The Fife, Wash., native scored five goals and added two assists in 19 matches. He has appeared three times for the Sounders’ first team since signing as a 17-year-old in 2014.

U.S. Soccer U-20 national team head coach Tab Ramos recently called Mansaray into an 11-day camp in Orlando, Fla. It is the final training before mid-February’s 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Costa Rica, which will send four teams to the FIFA 2017 U-20 Men’s World Cup in South Korea in May.

“We are pleased to add Victor to FCC, a young attacking player who is currently with our U-20 national team and voted as the No. 1 U-20 player in the USL in 2016,” said FC Cincinnati head coach John Harkes. “We are looking forward to working with him and accelerating his development.”

Fellow Sounders Homegrown product Sean Okoli, who the Sounders traded to the New England Revolution in 2015, spent last season with FC Cincinnati, scoring 16 goals in 29 matches en route to being named the USL Player of the Year. He signed with MLS’ New York City FC last December.
