TORONTO — Seattle Sounders midfielders Osvaldo Alonso and Brad Evans will be ready to play against Toronto FC in the MLS Cup Final on Saturday, Dec. 10 (5 p.m. PT; FOX, TSN, UniMas, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM).
Although officially listed as questionable, Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer confirmed after Friday's training session that the two will be involved in the match.
Alonso sprained his knee in the second leg of the Western Conference Championship against the Colorado Rapids two weeks ago and has been working his way back to full health.
“[Alonso] is on a different training plan,” said Schmetzer. “He will play tomorrow.”
Schmetzer also mentioned that Evans, who is battling an ankle sprain, will be involved, although to what extent is undetermined.
The Sounders did have a scary moment at training on Friday. Forward Oalex Anderson was carried off the pitch, and his injury did not sound promising.
“That one was not a good one,” said Schmetzer. “I’ll have to double check with the medical staff what happened, but I feel bad for that kid.”
