- Harry Shipp makes his Sounders debut against his former club after Seattle acquired him in a trade with Montreal this past offseason. He starts in place of Alvaro Fernandez, who got the nod last week against the Houston Dynamo.
- Stefan Frei starts in goal in what is his 100th regular-season appearance for the Sounders. He has won 48 matches and kept 27 clean sheets in his three-plus years in Seattle.
- Jordy Delem is available in the 18-man roster for the first time after signing a first-team contract last week.
