The Seattle Sounders are teaming up with Special Olympics and Microsoft on Saturday, March 26 for Upgrade Your Game, an event aiming at promoting greater acceptance and respect for athletes of all abilities through a shared experience.
Tickets are now on sale for the event, which will be held at Memorial Stadium in Seattle and will feature a series of football, soccer and cheerleading exercises led by Special Olympics coaches and Sounders players and alumni, including Aaron Kovar, Roger Levesque, Andrew Duran, Cam Weaver and Michael Tetteh.
Doors open at 4 p.m. and the day will wrap up at 8 p.m. Food and beverage will be available for purchase and parents and friends are welcome to stay and cheer athletes on by purchasing a ‘Spectator’ ticket for $5.
People with and without intellectual disabilities are welcome and encouraged to come out and play together in this event. The clinic is also open to participants of all ages, from children to adults.
All ticket proceeds will go toward future Special Olympics programs, including Unified Sports, which joins athletes of all abilities on the same team to achieve personal bests while working toward friendship and understanding. Attendees are encouraged to register online as limited tickets will be available at the door.
