The Seattle Sounders have made a massive jump in Week 23’s MLS Power Rankings following a 1-0 home win over Sporting Kansas City last Saturday.
The Sounders are on an eight-match unbeaten streak, have not conceded a goal in a club-record 400 minutes and have surged to No. 4 on MLSSoccer.com (No. 6 last week), ESPN.com (No. 8) and SI.com (No. 10).
“Night-and-day difference from their last game at Sporting, a 3-0 loss in mid-May that now seems like it was the low point of the season for Seattle,” wrote MLSSoccer.com. “The Sounders are 8-2-3 since then – the best mark in the league."
Seattle will try and tie a franchise record of nine matches unbeaten when it welcomes Minnesota United to CenturyLink Field on Sunday (7 p.m. PT; FS1, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM | TICKETS).
