Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris started and played 68 minutes in the United States’ 1-0 friendly win over Ecuador on Thursday evening at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla. Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan entered in the 68th minute for Weston McKennie, who exited with an injury.
Columbus Crew SC forward Gyasi Zardes scored the match’s lone goal in the 81st minute.
Morris started on the right wing and earned his 26th cap in his first international action since recovering from his torn ACL that cost him all of last season. Seattle native and former Sounders defender DeAndre Yedlin replaced Morris. Roldan earned his 8th cap and third straight under new U.S. Head Coach Gregg Berhalter.
The U.S. will take on Chile on Tuesday, March 26, at 5 p.m. PT at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas. The Sounders have a bye week and will resume MLS play on Saturday, March 30, at the Vancouver Whitecaps (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
