The Seattle Sounders floated to No. 6 in the latest MLS Power Rankings after their 1-0 win at the Portland Timbers, advancing one spot from last week. The victory was Seattle’s seventh in a row, which ties an MLS record in the post-shootout era.
Kim Kee-hee drove the right side of the box and fired a cross that deflected off Portland defender Julio Cascante for an own goal in the 76th minute. The result was the Sounders’ first win at Providence Park since 2014.
Seattle will now welcome the team it’s tied with for the all-time MLS record, Sporting Kansas City, on Saturday in a crucial Western Conference battle at CenturyLink Field (1 p.m. PT; JOEtv, UniMás, Univision Deportes, Twitter, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
