On Thursday morning, the Seattle Sounders made a pair of selections in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas: defender Danny Reynolds and midfielder Timo Mehlich. The Rave Green traded their first-round selection on Nov. 26 in exchange for goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland, leaving the defending champs with two picks in the second round, in which they selected Reynolds at No. 35 and Mehlich at No. 52, respectively.
Reynolds, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, played two seasons at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington after playing at the University of Louisville for three years. The 6'1, 180-pound defender grew up in Shilton, England.
Mehlich, 22, was an impactful player in the midfield for four seasons at University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The 2016 WAC Freshman of the Year was born in Mönchengladbach, Germany and played club soccer there as a teenager.
