VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Seattle Sounders FC (7-9-6, 27 points) extended its six-match unbeaten streak in a 1-1 draw at conference-leading Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday afternoon at Thunderbird Stadium. Midfielder Zach Mathers scored his second goal of the season in the first half for the Rave Green, who remain in 10th place in the Western Conference. S2 looks to continue its climb up the conference table on Saturday, August 13 at Rio Grande Valley FC Toros (5:30 p.m. PT / Live-streamed on SoundersFC.com).

In the 36th minute, S2 went up 1-0 on a goal by Mathers. Defender Jordy Delem picked off a pass near the center circle and surged forward into the attack. After taking four dribbles into Vancouver's area, Delem sent a through-ball to Mathers, who chipped the onrushing goalkeeper for his second goal of the season.

Whitecaps FC 2 drew level in the 54th minute. Midfielder Marco Bustos sent a pass to Daniel Haber in the 18-yard-box, with Haber's back facing the goal. Upon receiving the pass, Haber turned on one touch before delivering the low shot to the far corner of the net.

Seattle nearly scored the late winner in second-half stoppage time, but Jordan Schweitzer's shot attempt struck the side netting and Myron Samuel's open shot drifted high. In the end, S2 split the difference with the Western Conference leader. Ezra Hendrickson's side continues its road stretch against Rio Grande Valley FC Toros on Saturday, August 13 (5:30 p.m. PT / Live-streamed on SoundersFC.com).
