LAFC defeated the Seattle Sounders 3-1 on Sunday at Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.
Danny Musovski scored on a header off an Eduard Atuesta free kick in the 15th minute to open the scoring before Francisco Ginella scored in the 66th minute to give the hosts a two-goal lead. Nicolás Lodeiro pulled one back for the Sounders in the 77th minute on a beautiful free kick for his fifth goal of the season before Musovski scored again in the 84th minute.
One of Seattle’s best chances came in the 57th minute when Yeimar’s shot was destined into the back of the net, but defender Jordan Harvey headed it off the line.
The Sounders still remain atop the Western Conference standings and will host the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
THREE TAKEAWAYS
NOT OUR NIGHT
Sometimes the ball doesn’t fall your way, and that was the case for Seattle on Sunday night. The Sounders had 18 shots, including six that were blocked, but the Rave Green could only find the breakthrough on Lodeiro’s free kick.
STILL ON TOP
Barring an unexpected 12-goal Portland Timbers’ win over the San Jose Earthquakes, the Sounders will still end the night in first place in the West with the advantage in goal differential.
NEW CHALLENGE AWAITS
The Sounders will take on the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday for the first time this season. The Rapids will be extremely well-rested having not played since Sept. 23 while the club has experienced positive COVID-19 tests.
