SEATTLE - The Seattle Sounders conceded a goal in second-half stoppage time, sending them to a 1-0 defeat in their fixture against Eastern Conference foe Philadelphia Union at CenturyLink Field on Wednesday night.

The game looked destined for a 0-0 draw but Philadelphia’s Fafa Picault got the dramatic winner after picking off a pass from Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei and cashing home the finish at the death, ending the Sounders’ MLS single-season record nine-match winning streak.

The Sounders got off to a fast start, with both Raúl Ruidíaz and Víctor Rodríguez clanging shots off the post in the first 20 minutes of the game. However, neither opportunity would find the net and both sides would enter the halftime locker room scoreless.

Seattle were deflated by an injury blow just after the half-hour mark when Ruidíaz exited the contest with a sprained right ankle and was replaced by Will Bruin. Center back Chad Marshall also exited at halftime after taking a knock to the head in the first half.

The contest featured a handful of chances for both sides in the second half, including an apparent goal by the Union's Cory Burke that ended up getting waived off for offside on Video Review. However, Picault put the game away with the late winner that allowed the visitors to escape with the 1-0 result.

It’ll be another quick turnaround as the Sounders look ahead to their next match, which will see them head to StubHub Center to take on the LA Galaxy and superstar forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Seattle beat up on LA 5-0 the last time the sides met at CenturyLink Field on August 18, a result the Sounders will look to duplicate as they try to get back on track.
