Goalkeeper Charlie Lyon and forward Darwin Jones are the only two Seattle Sounders eligible to be selected in the 2016 MLS Waiver Draft, which will be held on Thursday at 12 p.m. PT.
The Waiver Draft consists of players who are not eligible for the Re-Entry Draft or Free Agency and who are either out of contract or did not have their 2017 options exercised. The Waiver Draft order is determined by the reverse order of the final standings in the MLS season, taking into account postseason performance.
Having won MLS Cup, the Sounders will pick 20th, the last of 2016’s MLS teams. Expansion teams Atlanta United and Minnesota United will pick 21st and 22nd, respectively.
