The Seattle Sounders remain as the No. 2 team in the latest edition of MLSsoccer.com’s weekly Power Rankings, one spot behind league-leading Toronto FC.
The Rave Green are coming off a scoreless draw against the resurgent San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday.
Seattle is level with the Portland Timbers atop the West on 31 points, but the Sounders sit in first with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.
“Even after Sunday’s 0-0 draw against San Jose, the Sounders still lead the Western Conference standings,” wrote MLSsoccer.com contributor Jonathan Sigal. “Stop us if you’ve heard this one before, but the latest FiveThirtyEight ratings have Seattle and Toronto on a collision course for another MLS Cup meeting.”
The Sounders host the Timbers on Thursday evening (7:30 p.m. PT; FS1, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) in a crucial fixture that could have massive implications in the race to win the West.
