SEATTLE, WASH. – Seattle Sounders FC 2 today announced the signing of Colombian midfielder Carlos Patino. Per club policy, additional terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
Patino, 20, most recently played a stint with Kitsap Pumas SC of the USL PDL, scoring twice in a 5-2 victory over FC Tacoma 253 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Prior to that, he scored three goals with the Whitecaps FC Academy U-18s in 2012. Patino moved from Colombia to Alberta, Canada at the age of 10, where he pursued a career in soccer and was selected to play for the Alberta Provincial Team.
“Carlos is a smart, young player we've been watching with the Kitsap Pumas throughout the season,” said S2 General Manager Andrew Opatkiewicz. “He is a player who could develop into a First Team prospect and we think he can help S2 immediately.”
S2 (12-10-3, 36 points) faces the Austin Aztex (8-13-3, 27 points) on the road on Saturday, September 5 at 5:30 p.m. PT. Only three matches remain for the Rave Green in the USL regular season, with the club needing two points to clinch a postseason berth.
