If you were busy watching the U.S. Men’s National Team take on Chile yesterday, we don’t blame you. However, you may have missed a big announcement and opportunity from S2.
Shake the rust off those pipes and start reading up on your USL PRO stats and facts because the club is giving fans a chance to become the voice of S2 during the 2015 season. Like the distinct voice of Ross Fletcher and the tactical knowledge of Kasey Keller, the club is asking anyone hoping to jumpstart their broadcasting career to submit a video as a duo (play-by-play and broadcast analyst) calling a Sounders FC clip provided here (English accent not required, though pretty cool).
Take it from former Sounders FC broadcaster Arlo White, who now serves as the lead NBC play-by-play commentator for Barclays Premier League broadcasts.
Of the submitted videos, up to three will be chosen by S2 to broadcast a handful of games in the team’s inaugural season, where each game will be streamed on SoundersFC.com. Throughout the season, the selected groups will be voted on via social media and by S2 staff, with the top vote-getter potentially earning a contract to become the official voice of S2 in 2016.
The deadline for the competition is February 10, which leaves the selected duos enough time before the season to study up on the team, the league and practice their broadcast style. S2 is looking for someone with plenty of professionalism and soccer knowledge, as well as a deep passion for the Sounders FC organization.
If you’re ready to kick-start your broadcast career, here’s your chance. It’s open tryouts, but instead of earning your spot on the pitch, you’re earning your spot in the booth.
