The Seattle Sounders are heading to Frisco, Texas, on Friday for the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals on Sunday (6 p.m. PT; FS1 KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM).
The Sounders lead 3-0 on aggregate and are trying to reach the Western Conference Finals for the third time in the franchise’s eight-year MLS history. Seattle was without center back Roman Torres and midfielders Andreas Ivanschitz and Alvaro Fernandez in the first leg last week, and head coach Brian Schmetzer provided insight to their status for this weekend.
Torres will travel with the team to Dallas, but Ivanschitz and Fernandez will not. Whether Torres will play has yet to be determined.
Schmetzer shuffled his lineup in the first leg to compensate for all three players’ absences. He started veteran Zach Scott in central defense, and chose to start Jordan Morris and Nicolas Lodeiro on the wing, Erik Friberg in central midfield and Nelson Valdez at forward.
