Midfielder Nicolas Lodeiro will be available for the Seattle Sounders’ home match on Wednesday against the Houston Dynamo (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, KIRO Radio 97.3FM, El Rey 1360AM).
He will be returning from the Uruguayan national team this weekend and will be at training on Monday at Starfire Sports.
Uruguay called in Lodeiro for their CONMEBOL 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela on Thursday and Colombia next Tuesday. After scoring a diving header in the first half against Venezuela and putting La Celeste ahead, he received a yellow card in the 50th minute and is now suspended for the Colombia match because of yellow-card accumulation.
Prior to Uruguay’s match on Thursday, Sounders General Manager and President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey casted doubt on whether Lodeiro would be able make it back to Seattle from Barranquilla, Colombia, on time for the match.
Lodeiro missed the Sounders’ previous match, a 2-1 road win against the Vancouver Whitecaps, because of a yellow-card suspension in MLS play.
