Major League Soccer has nominated Seattle Sounders midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro for Week 17 Goal of the Week for his picturesque free kick against LAFC on Sunday.
With LAFC up 2-0 late in the second half, Lodeiro halved the Rave Green’s deficit with a powerful, swerving free kick that flew over the wall and into the top corner from distance.
Seattle’s comeback on the day fell short, but the team still sits first in the Western Conference standings. They’ll have an opportunity to get back in the win column on Wednesday as they host the Colorado Rapids at CenturyLink Field (7:00 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
