MLSSoccer.com contributor and former Major League Soccer and United States national team forward Charlie Davies named Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris the best American player in MLS this season.
“I think it's a no-brainer for Jordan Morris to have him be kind of this guy who I think has taken a step up in his game, his level, his approach, being able to influence in difference ways, his combination play,” Davies said on the Extratime Radio podcast. “It does help when you're playing with Raul Ruidiaz and Nico Lodeiro, but I think [Morris’] influence has made Seattle a better team.”
Added host Andrew Wiebe: “[Morris] is just as big a weapon as [Lodeiro and Ruidíaz]. Even though I think Lodeiro is the MVP of that team, [Morris] is the weapon. He’s been amazing.”
Morris is in the middle of an MVP-caliber season, having scored eight goals and added seven assists, both of which are tied for fourth in MLS this season.
Morris and the Sounders take on the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday at Earthquakes Stadium (7:30 p.m. PT; JOEtv, Prime Video, 1090 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
