Major League Soccer on Monday named Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro to its Week 1 Team of the Week for their efforts in a 4-1 win over FC Cincinnati. The league additionally named midfielder Víctor Rodríguez to the Team of the Week bench.
Morris recorded a brace in his first start since Sept. 10, 2017, after missing all of last season with a torn ACL. He struck twice 10 minutes apart in the first half, including a left-footed one-timer that is nominated for MLS Goal of the Week.
Lodeiro finished with two assists, each to Morris, and had a match-high 117 touches. He also had 86.4 percent passing accuracy and 69 passes in Cincinnati’s half.
Rodríguez also finished with two assists and five key passes. His eight shots was the most in MLS this week.
The Sounders will host the Colorado Rapids in Week 2 on Saturday, March 9 (7 p.m. PT; JOEtv, YouTube TV, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM | TICKETS).
