Major League Soccer on Thursday unveiled its regular-season schedule, a campaign that sees each of its 22 clubs play 34 matches from the beginning of March to Decision Day at the end of October.
The Seattle Sounders will be broadcast on either ESPN or the FOX family of networks 12 times in 2017.
As announced in December, the Sounders will open the season on the road for the first time in their MLS franchise history. Seattle will visit the Houston Dynamo on March 4 at BBVA Compass Stadium followed by a trip to the Montreal Impact on March 11 before the Sounders’ home-opener on March 19 against the New York Red Bulls (4 p.m. PT; FS1).
Seattle will host expansion side Atlanta United in their only match this season on March 31 (7 p.m. PT; FS1) before embarking on the team’s only three-game road trip of the season. The Sounders will visit the San Jose Earthquakes on April 8, the Vancouver Whitecaps on April 14 and the LA Galaxy on April 23 (1 p.m. PT; ESPN).
The Sounders will host a rematch of the 2016 MLS Cup Final against Toronto FC on May 6 at CenturyLink Field (1 p.m. PT; TSN, ESPN). It is the teams’ only meeting this year.
Seattle will host the first of two home matches against the rival Portland Timbers on May 27 (12 p.m. PT; FOX). The Sounders will travel to Providence Park on June 25 (1 p.m. PT; ESPN) before playing the final of the three-game season series at CenturyLink Field on Aug. 27 (6:30 p.m. PT; FS1).
Seattle will visit other Cascadia rival the Vancouver Whitecaps twice this season, the first on April 14 (Time TBD; TSN) and the second on Aug. 23 (Time TBD; TSN). The Sounders’ lone home game against Vancouver will take place on Sept. 27 (Time TBD; TSN).
New Western Conference foe Minnesota United FC will host the Sounders on Aug. 5 before visiting Seattle just two weeks later on Aug. 20 (7 p.m. PT; FS1).
The Sounders will finish the regular season with three of their four final matches at home. They will host the Colorado Rapids on Decision Day on Oct. 22.
Seattle will kick off its preseason against the Timbers on Feb. 4 in Tucson, Ariz., before participating in the Carolina Challenge Cup in Charleston, S.C. The Sounders will play a round-robin against the USL's Charleston Battery on Feb. 18, Atlanta United on Feb. 22 and Columbus Crew SC on Feb. 25.
