Major League Soccer has nominated Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei for Week 25 Save of the Week for his acrobatic, one-handed save at the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday.
With Seattle leading 1-0 in the 39th minute, forward Fredy Montero stole the ball 25 yards from goal and ripped a curling shot bound for the top corner that Frei incredibly pawed away.
Frei has already won Save of the Week twice this season: in Week 6 for a stop on the San Jose Earthquakes’ Marcos Ureña and again in Week 10 for a stop on Toronto FC’s Jozy Altidore.
