Tacoma Defiance (6-19-6, 24 points) on Saturday defeated Fresno FC (16-8-8, 56 points), 4-1, at Chukchansi Park for its first road win of the season. Justin Dhillon recorded a brace and added an assist for the visitors, while Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez scored a goal and earned an assist for Tacoma. Danny Leyva scored his first professional goal for Defiance in its convincing victory over the second-place team in the Western Conference. Goalkeeper Trey Muse stopped a career-high seven shots to help lead Tacoma.
Dhillon scored his first goal of the evening in the 31st minute on a pass from Jesse Daley. He displayed some brilliant footwork before curling a ball into the left side of the goal to give Tacoma a 1-0 advantage. The forward completed his brace in the 64th minute off a feed from Ocampo-Chavez to make it 2-0. Leyva sent a ball into the area while Ocampo-Chavez headed to the foot of Dhillon who finished for his team-leading 12th goal of the season.
Tacoma pushed the lead to 3-0 in the 69th minute when Dhillon and Ocampo-Chavez connected for a second time. Dhillon carried a ball into the area and sent a pass to the center of the box for Ocampo-Chavez, who blasted a shot past the Fresno FC goalkeeper for his sixth goal of the 2019 campaign.
Leyva put the game out of reach in the 75th minute with a blast from near the top of the area. Azriel Gonzalez left a pass for the 16-year-old, who hit a strike with his left foot to the right corner of the goal past the outstretched Fresno goalkeeper to make it 4-0.
Eight players under the age of 20 saw action for Tacoma tonight, including three First Team players in Ocampo-Chavez, Leyva and Muse.
