Major League Soccer has nominated Seattle Sounders forward Raúl Ruidíaz for Week 19 Goal of the Week for his golazo against Atlanta United in a 2-1 win at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.
With the match scoreless in the 58th minute, Ruidíaz produced one of the best pieces of individual skill of the season when he chested the ball down, headed it forward and chipped it over a defender before finishing a half-volley past goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
The goal was Ruidíaz’s team-leading seventh of the season and his first since June 1 after missing the last four MLS matches while with Peru on their run to the Copa América final. He now has 17 goals in 22 regular-season starts since joining Seattle last summer.
